On 21 November human rights defenders will present a Report on Political Persecution in Ukraine in 2011
The event will be from 10.00 to 13.00 in the Rus Hotel, 4 Hostpitalna St. (simultaneous translation available).
The event is organized by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union and the Kharkiv Human Rights Group
The report will be presented by members of the Public Committee against Political Persecution in Ukraine.
Myroslav Marynovych, Vice-Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University, human rights defender, founding member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group (November 1976) and former political prisoner
Yevhen Zakharov, Director of the Kharkiv Human Rights Group
Josef Zisels, President of the Congress of National Communities of Ukraine, member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, former political prisoner
Oleksandra Matviychuk, Head of the Board of the Civil Liberties Centre
Volodymyr Yavorsky, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union
The event will also be attended by human rights activists from post-Soviet republics who will share their experience in fighting political persecution.
The Public Committee against Political Persecution in Ukraine is a non party, apolitical association of human rights defenders from the Soviet period and modern day. The Committee defends all those who are subjected to persecution in Ukraine, regardless of their race, skin colour, sex, citizenship, ethnic and social origin, financial and other situation, position, type and nature of activities, place of residence, language, religion, party affiliation, political or other convictions.
